Clinic Policy

Innisfil Medical Practice has been set up to provide medical care for residents of Innisfil and surrounding areas. We are primarily accepting patients who do NOT have a family doctor already in the Barrie Family Health Organization. If you have a serious medical emergency you  should proceed go to the nearest Emergency Department as the clinic is not equipped to handle medical emergencies. Also only patients with appointments can be seen as the clinic is NOT a walk in Clinic. We however have same day appointments available upon request.

For walk in services, kindly attend any of the 4 Barrie Walk in Clinics.

Documentation Requirements

All prospective patients are required to complete an intake form to register and present a valid OHIP card to ALL medical visits. If your health card is invalid or expired you can be charged $60 for the visit at the time of the visit.

No-Show Policy and Lateness Policy

In order to provide an efficient service to all patients, we require 24 hours notice for all cancelled or rescheduled appointments. . Cancelled or rescheduled appointments must be done during regular business hours. If you book within the 24 hour time frame, the policy is in effect immediately. All appointments will end at the scheduled time so that we may serve the next patient at their scheduled start time. Due to the high volume of demand for medical services, late comers may be required to reschedule for the same or a later day.

Visit Length

The length of family medicine appointments are 10 minutes. Due to OHIP regulations, the  doctor can only provide care for 1-2 concerns per visit. If patients have several concerns, they will be asked to book a follow-up appointment, and if your doctor feels your concern is complex, you may be asked to return and book a longer visit. Communication with administrative staff about your health or investigations is also against provincial privacy regulations and you will be instructed to communicate all medical concerns with your doctor at your appointment. Our staff will be happy to help with all other concerns.

Laboratory Tests or Investigations

Most test results will be received by the practice approximately 7 days of being performed. Patients should arrange a follow up appointment to review the results of any tests carried out.  Administrative staff cannot discuss test results with patients over the phone or in person. Patients will only be contacted in the event of an abnormal result requiring action.

Appointment System

Once a meet and greet has been completed with Dr Fola, for subsequent appointments, patients are to call first thing in the morning at 9am for an appointment on the same day. The following appointments can however be booked ahead:

  1. Physicals
  2. Diabetic reviews
  3. All forms
  4. Well baby checks and Immunizations
  5. Prenatal
  6. Mental health reviews
  7. Pre-Op Physicals
  8. Follow-up of test results.

Third Party Insured Services and Uninsured Medical Services

Not all medical services are insured by OHIP.  Examples of uninsured services include sick notes, insurance forms, government forms, employment physicals, travel health, tray fees for procedures, etc. Forms take time to fill and thus reduce the doctor’s ability to provide care to patients. We will always inform patients in advance of such charges and offer several convenient forms of payment. Receipts will be provided for all payments made for un-insured services. You will require an appointment to complete all forms. No forms can be completed without one.
